I’ve spent the last 22 years tamping down my innate artistic gene to pursue a (stable) career in hospitality. As a successful entrepreneur of a hospitality firm, I found success didn’t matter if I wasn’t fulfilled. I was in demand – an industry guest speaker – respected. But at the end of the day my career didn’t fulfill me the way my art did and always would.
I developed a Plan B and left my field for canvas and paint. I am the daughter of an untrained artist: a man who could draw stunningly beautiful portraits of my mother with charcoal. His talent moved me and I take what was given to me through his genes and create bold pieces of contemporary art that give me the sense of fulfillment that I’ve lacked throughout all these years.
Studying art in high school and taking one art class in college, I too, am an untrained artist that now follows in her father’s footsteps.
Behavior that is so unpredictable that it appears random, but of course it is not. Within each piece there is a deliberate and conscious effort to make sense out of confusion and formless matter creating movement, energy and quiet commotion.
